Places To Visit - Things To See - Good Food - Places to Go On A Date - Things To Do - Places To Hang Out - Cheap Food - Interesting Shops...
...in and around Yogya.
Please tell us what, why, how much, when, who with, and - above all - why you are recommending it!
I think the good place in Jogja is stars hill or people usually call it BB(Bukit Bintang). In this place you can see the Jogjakarta city with many lamps just like stars in the sky. I think Bukit Bintang is romantic place and very proper become place for dating with someone that you love. Bukit bintang is located in east of Jogjakarta the distance about 16 kilometer from the city. From Jogja you can go there through Jalan wonosari. You can find a lot of warung with beautiful scenery of Jogja, not only that but also you can enjoy the atmosphere and cheap food. So if you want to date with your girl friend or your friends, I recommend to visit Bukit Bintang.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to go to Dunkin Doughnut in Jl. Kaliurang Km. 5. The Wi-Fi connection is fast. Just buy one doughnut and you can enjoy the Wi-Fi connection. And there’s also cable TV channel that often aired HBO. I often go to this place because it’s near from my place and I like the strawberry doughnut
ReplyDeleteYou have to try Coklat cafe in Jalan Cik Di Tiro, it is not far from campus. The place is really cozy, beside that you can also enjoy the delicious food and beverage that might cost you about Rp 8.000,00-Rp 25.000,00. I usually spend my time with my friends there. This place is also comfortable to study, some students use it as a group study place sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever go to raminten? It's a good place for hang out and spend your time. It is located at kotabaru, beside mirota bakery. The food there are cheap. You can purchase delicious Nasi kucing just for Rp. 1000. The atmoshpere there are very traditional. The waiter and waitress wear tradional clothes. You can enjoy your foods while hearing traditional music. So what do you waiting for?
ReplyDeletePHUKET
ReplyDeleteI suggest you to come to this Thailand food restaurant! There are many varieties of food served here, but the special foods I recommend you to try are ‘Sapi dalam Kelapa’ (It’s a grilled beef served in a coconut shell), ‘Tom Yam Seafood Soup’ (mixture of various herbs and spices which makes it sour spicy, and you can find squid, scallop, and shrimp inside it), ‘Ayam Goreng Saos Bangkok’ (fried chicken served with delicious Bangkok sauce) and ‘Kerang Hijau Masak Daun Kemangi’ . For the beverages, you can try ‘Thai Ice Tea’ and ‘Es Kratingdeng Lychee’. The price range is about Rp 5.000-25.000. It’s located in Jl. Ring Road Utara Ruko Pandega Permai Number 5. If you are from Jl. Kaliurang, just turn left from the Kentungan Junction go straight and it’s in your right side. So if you are looking for cheap food, comfortable place, and fast service, try this restaurant.
If you like music and light and all the beauty of a night, I recommend you to go to “Myoozik” for dinner. It is a very lovely and entertaining restaurant located in Sagan. It is a garden restaurant. Its dining tables made of wood such as park benches. There are candles in every table and lots of dim yellow lights hung in trees, and moon with its stars.
ReplyDeleteLast Tuesday night I went there for the very first time, looking for dinner. At first I was pissed because I had dinner alone, but then I couldn’t move from my dinner table, lulled by the atmosphere. Every Tuesday night is a Brazilian dance night. The music ware samba and salsa, and there were about 4 couples dancing there. Very romantic! And when the moon was floating high, almost the entire guess joined the dance. They were dancing around their table; mingle with each other, doing the cha-cha samba dance. What a night!
So, the very next day I went there with Gizti, wishing the last night miracle which happened yesterday night repeated. But unfortunately, it didn’t. The Brazilian night is a Tuesday night event. But if you go there in Friday night there will be a live music and DJ on Saturday night.
Here is the picture of the place:
http://ardhianmintan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/DSC_0078.jpg
Couldn't agree more, Irina!
ReplyDeleteMyoozik is a really recommended place to go, as you can see the convincing explanation by Irina above.
I spent about 3 hours there, just sat sipping a cup of coffee, amazed by the scenery around. If you wanna be as amazed as I am, go there at night.
Irina and I intended to attend the Brazilian dance night next Tuesday. Care to join us?
Irina and Gizti, I'd like to, but too bad I can't dance.
ReplyDeleteI think Myoozik and Slushie have a relation, because I've seen something about Myoozik in Slushie's table.
My favorite place to go is Slushie Nation. Why Slushie Nation? Because I love eating. So here is my review about the place and the food. Slushie Nation is located in Ambarukmo Plaza, 3rd floor, next to Emax. I love going there because for me the food is too good to be true. The place is not cozy actually and too noisy, but once you taste the food, seems like you can't do anything except eating. My favorite menu is Meatballs actually it is not a meatball soup, it is pasta served with meatball in the top, and I like it so much. The other menu you have to try is, I forget the name actually, but I guess it is corn flakes chicken, it is a chicken fillet covered with corn flakes and fried. Don't forget the Beef Lasagna, just taste it by your self and write another review about its deliciousness, trust me, the lasagna is so delicious. And for beverages, try Slushie, it is a shaved ice with fruit-flavoured. And too bad I forget what are the fruit-flavored in Slushie. But for you who don't like being freezing try another drinks, because Slushie is too freezing.
Well chuk, yesterday I went to myoozik with gizti. And so do us, we can't dance. But there were an instructor helped us to learn the basic moves. But still we can't dance hahaha
ReplyDeleteArtemy Italian Gelato
ReplyDeleteIf you are an ice-cream addict, you should try this one. Artemy has over than 24 gelato variant, and 18 sorbet variant. There are 2 Artemy shops, if you want a cozy place with various flavor of gelato and sorbet you can go to the Artemy shop in Kranggan Market near UGD of Dagadu, but if you want to try the cheapest one you can go to the Artemy shop beside The Malioboro Mall. The price start from Rp10000/scoop for ice cream, and start from Rp3000/topping. I prefer green tea gelato for everyone who has sensitive teeth
You guys wrote good places for hangout! I love to go to myoozik and artemy too. Few days ago I went to myoozik I spent like 3 hours there with some friends while then I realized that it was time to go home. Anyone here try the new artemy gelateria in kranggan? I haven't been there since it's quite new but I imagine that it must be a great place to hang out. Anyway I want to share an information about artemy, do you know guys that it's owned by our senior in IUP? Maybe we could ask him for discount sometimes. Haha.
ReplyDeleteWell, seeing you guys sharing about places to hangout which are "really teenager" I want to share a good place to eat too, but in term of traditional food and atmosphere. Do you guys like nasi goreng? I have a good recommendation of place to eat it: NASI GORENG PAK PELE in north alun-alun. They have a really delicious nasi goreng and bakmi jawa too. Don't compare the price with nasi goreng padmanaba which is really cheap. Take your family there when they come to Jogja. They will love the atmosphere. Eating nasi goreng out door at night, with cozy area, and live music sung by Pengamen. Trust me they're not the bad Pengamen who sing with however their voice, the Pengamen there sing really good. Ah writing this makes me hungry. Try it guys!
Suddenly an idea pops up in my mind while reading "places to go on a date". Do you guys feel bored to do the same things over and over again while taking your girls or boys out? Going to the cinema, amplaz, or other common place in Jogja? I suggest you guys to have a museum-date in Ulen Sentalu Museum in Kaliurang. It's not a boring museum, totally not. They have good collections, uniquely traditional buildings, and also a cool Javanese restaurant. The guide of the museum will take you to a tour explaining the history of Kraton Ngayogyakarta but in such cool way. It is a good place for taking pictures too. I went there once and I really like that. The ticket was about 15000-20000 Rupiah at that time. This place isn't specially for date, if you want to go there with some friends it will be fun too.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading all this comments.. since I am a newcomer in Jogja. And I do love discovering new places in new city, then spend time with my friends.
ReplyDeleteI'll recommend you an open nature place, a cozy place for spend time with friends, and fit in 'anak-kosan' pocket. it is South Alun-Alun.. or we usually say Alun-Alun Kidul. I really enjoy spend time there at night. there are a lot of cadgers. some sell foods, light-stick toys, wedang ronde and so on. when I go there, I always buy Wedang Ronde, The contents of wedang Ronde are hot ginger water, Ronde, kolang kaling fruit, nuts, and sugar as a sweetener. It has a warm effect, so this beverage is appropriate if taken in the night, in the cold atmosphere of Jogjakarta. You can get it with only spend around 3000 rupiah. After that, you have to challenge yourself to play 'Across The Two Beringin' (I named the game by myself) you have to walk across 2 Beringin with your eyes close. People say that if you succeed to cross, all your wish will come true. And this game is for free.
so, spend time in Alun-Alun is cheap and offer something different..
I totally agree with Dhira. I love the night atmosphere at Alun Alun Kidul. I really like riding pedicab with some lights which i think it's really beautiful. You can ride it with your friends 4 until 9 people per pedicab only for 15.000 until 40.000 . You can also riding bicycle or tandem bicycle with your friend. Alun Alun Kidul is not only a really cozy place to go with your friends but also a romantic place to go on a date
ReplyDeleteFor the next few , there will be a Kraton Wedding at Kraton. I think you guys and I, could go there for enjoying the Kraton Wedding party. The party, I mean the wedding itself will be held on 16th-19th of October 2011. I heard from the recent news that the wedding will be looking like a Royal Wedding! This is unbelievable! And awesome! And we can see the brides will be taken by a house-drawn carriage (kereta kuda). But yes, I think everybody could go there for enjoying and relaxing their time. And of course, I guarantee that there will be many foods, from Indonesian food, like gudeg, until European food, like spaghetti. Or maybe Sultan will mix the food, Asian and European, like European fried rice (or nasi goreng eropa). But the vehicle is not allowed to park around Malioboro to Kraton. I am very recommend to you guys to come to this Kraton Wedding. Btw, let me say congratulations to Sultan HB X for his son’s wedding.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, i am sorry, i mean horse-drawn carriage (kereta kuda)
ReplyDeleteI like to go whenever the winds of Jogja took me. But now I still want to go to parangtritis
ReplyDeleteRegarding our current status as freshmen who needs to think of how to survive in living on our own especially with a limited budget. I would like to recommend one of my favourite spots in Yogyakarta, the warung Flamboyan.
ReplyDeleteIt is located in klebengan, right behind UNY technical faculty. I went there yesterday with Karin and Liren for lunch and I ate a grilled chicken, two meatballs, and a huge sausage yet it only costs fifteen thousand rupiah. That moment I know both my pocket and my stomach would fancy this place.
So if you're starving and in need of nutrition in low cost, warung Flamboyan is the place to go.
It's really interesting for me to read all of those comments. Most of comments are about good food. As a food hunter, I already know some famous and yummy food. Well, I have two places for newcomer in Jogja.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I want to recommend you to try "Nasi Goreng Padmanaba" or also known as "Nasi Goreng Daging Sapi". It's located front of SMAN 3 Yogyakarta. You don't have to worry about the price. Offering you with low prices, there are two size that you can choose, Jumbo and Medium. To eat Jumbo size, you have to spent Rp.10.000 and for Medium size, it costs Rp.9000. I can't describe it taste until you try it and I believe that you can't describe it too. You can just tell us that it's really delicious.
The last is Kalimilk (Kaliurang Milk).Do you like milk? Then you have to try it. It offers you various menu of milk with low price. Gajah size is Rp.15.000 and Medium is Rp.8.000. Moreover, you can choose cold or hot milk. For information, you can take away cold milk. I prefer to choose Caramel and Cookies. The place is really cozy. Be aware that you will addicted!.
Well I've already lived in Jogja for six years and I seldom go to those cozy places. My mother told me that it's better to have a dinner at home. I only go there if I go to hang out with my friends and I only meet them not more than twice a month. A month ago, my mother took me to Bebek Goreng Pak Slamet at Jalan Gejayan, I recommend that place if you look for delicious fatty foods with mid-range price, I call it delicious fatty foods because the main food menu is fried duck. It was a rare event that my mother suddenly decided to take me somewhere to eat something.
ReplyDeleteI think jogja is cheap city, everything can be say cheap.food in jogja is more cheap,a lot of food place in jogja very cheap.maybe you can culinary tourism in jogja.but i think food place that very cheap in buffet flamboyan.you can visit it,in near UNY.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading this page. You guys wrote good comments and all the places seem good to go to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Liren about Kalimilk. If you like drinking milk and eating toasts, you should go there. My favorite one is caramel milk. I recommend you guys to try it.
For dinner or lunch, I recommend 'Jejamuran Resto' in Niron, Sleman. It's quite far actually, but the place is worth to go. I believe you guys have heard about this restaurant since it's quite famous. It serves foods with mushrooms as the main ingredients. The foods here are delicious. The must try dishes here in my opinion are 'sate jamur' and 'rendang jamur'.
I'm an ice cream addict but I haven't tried that Artemy Gelato. Reading Aya's comment makes me want to go there even more. Has anybody here been to TipTop Ice Cream? I heard that it's famous also? Is it good?

ReplyDeleteSpecial Noodles Series:
ReplyDeletea. Nikkon Ramen
From its name you would already know that this place provides Japanese noodles aka ramen. Located in Monjali street near Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School. I recommended you to try the chicken chili ramen. The price range is Rp8500-15000.
b. Mie Ayam Mas Yudi
Mie Ayam Mas Yudi located in Sagan beside Popperca boutique or near the SS Sagan (sorry I dont know the real address name is). The special dish here is yamin noodle. The price range is Rp5000-Rp10500.
Have a nice culinary trip guys!
@Nadia Karina: I have tried the Artemy Gelato in Kranggan, this shop has more variants and more expensive than in Malioboro, but I think the price is equal with the place and the service we get.
@Gaby : You have to try Swenson's Ice cream too! Even the place is not convincing but the ice cream's taste are great. If you want to taste it, you can go to 2nd floor of KFC Galael near Debrito Senior High School . The price range is Rp8000-Rp24000. I prefer the avocado ice cream.
@aya:I really want to go to artemy but I don't know how to get there, would you please accompany me after mid-term test? What's favorite ice cream in artemy?I need a suggestion from you.

By the way, all of you must try white sand beach in gunung kidul, it is awesome. there is a beach in there called srandakan and it is very beautiful, this beach located in row of gunung kidul beach, exactly beside sundak beach, I prefer to go and stay in srandakan than sundak because in srandakan very quite. so if you feel bored with your college life or you have many problem you can visit this beach. For the cost one night Rp 80.000,00 and you must to see the sunset. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1510993538697&set=t.1351792051&type=3&theater
ReplyDeleteI truly agree with Andi's comment. I second that.
ReplyDeleteFlamboyan is not an ordinary place to eat. It is truly cheap and the foods there are vary. I often go there because it is near my boarding house. Not only traditional foods like gudeg and opor, but also modern foods like sausages can be found in Flamboyan.
By the way, why nobody mentions about Sarkem?
Sarkem is prostitution area in Yogyakarta like gang doli in surabaya. may be sarkem is still strange for some people but it is already become open secret. everybody know that sarkem the place for naughty guy to express their "desire". I ever read article about person that want to make sarkem become legal sights, so can attract tourist to come to jogja but when he register it to government, Sri sultan refuse it because Sultan thinks that Jogja still has ethic. Moreover if the sarkem become legal it will make bad effect to young people in jogja.
ReplyDeleteI give you guys a sneak peak about jogja's unique food, "SATE KLATHAK" in Bantul. Sate klathak is lamb satay. What makes it special? Sate klathak is not like other other ordinary satay being grilled with wooden stick and peanut topping, it is lamb satay grilled with a long iron stick (usually used for bicycle wheels, 'ruji') and seasoned with salt. It is very delicious guys, even Pak Bondan said that it's very 'maknyusss'. Because of it's grilled with iron stick, the heat gets inside the lamb and it makes the satay really flavory. I really recommend it to you who like to taste a new tasty food of Jogja. You can order lamb tongseng or gulai as well which is also delicious. When you go there, you should order hot tea in the pot (teh poci) served with block sugar (gula batu). Yummy.
ReplyDelete@Gaby: Yes! Tip Top ice cream used to be popular in Jogja when I was a kid. They have various kinds of home made-ice cream. But I dont know for right now because it has been a long time since I went there for the last time. It's quite sad that Tip Top doesn't redecorate their shop so it left old and with not much lighting.
ReplyDeleteIf you love to relax, you must go to Larissa Aesthetic Center. The Hair Spa Treatment is heavenly pleasing, and not so pricey. The treatment includes hair masking, hair steaming, and massage. The greatest thing about Larissa, is that they use natural ingredients. You should try Strawberry-Yogurt Hair Treatment. They use fresh strawberries and yogurt.
ReplyDeleteI have read about some places to go in yogyakarta when i was googling for good culinary places here. Then, one of tour blogs mentions Nasi Bakar jakal and also Angkringan KR. Luckily, my boarding house is near Nasi Bakar Jakal, so i have tasted it and prove what the blog has said, aand it is true! Nasi Bakar jakal is delicious. You should try it because it is a unique dish.
ReplyDeleteThe second place is Angkringan KR, which located in front of Kedaulatan Rakyat in malioboro. I once went there with my IPP friends, and I think it does not cost very cheap compared to other angkringan, but it taste so delicious.
The blog also mention about adventurous places to go, and i feel so excited with Kalisuci Cave Tubing which located in Gunung kidul. We can do body rafting while doing cave tubing. This activity cost Rp 65rb, that already included lunch after we finish the track. The scenery is so lovely, and the water color is blue! I think our class should go there together someday :)
Feel bored with 'Pizza Hut'? Try this!
ReplyDelete@Nanamia Pizzeria
This pizza is like an Italian Pizza which uses thin, crunchy, and crispy bread. It's different from Pizza Hut which uses thick layer of bread.
It is Nanamia Pizzeria, located in Moses Gatotkaca Gejayan, it is near Sanata Dharma University. What’s special here? Well, all of the pizza is roasted with a traditional stove using live coals that the fire comes out from the burning wood. The pizza is also thin and has a lot of topping on it. You can choose medium or large one. It cost about 20-30 for the pizza. I recommend you to try ‘Pizza Carne’, this is my favorite one. It consists of onion, meat, minced chicken, and bacon. You can also try lasagna, Pasta, and salad and for the dessert you can try Venetan Choco Mouses, Chocolate con salsa raspberry, and also Tiramisu.
@iLMondo Pizza
This pizza has a lot of similarity wih Nanamia, (many people say so), the team workers work here were the ex-workers of Nanamia who already retired.
It's located in Jalan Cendrawasih number 21A Demangan. The restaurant is larger than Nanamia, it has 2 floors. The menu is almost the same, my favorite one is ‘Carne’ (in Nanamia) but in ilMondo it is called ‘iLMondo dicarni’. It cost 49k for the large one. The taste is almost the same with Nanamia too. The pizza is also crispy and has a lot o topping, like onion, bacon, chicken, pepperoni, etc. You can also try ‘Bruschetta’ for only 10K, it is a kind of long France bread which is sliced into 4 pieces with sliced tomato as its topping.
Although it seems similar to those in Nanamia, in iLMondo you only can order the large one. There are no small or medium here. There are many beverages here, it cost about 10K.
@Pizza Giovanni
The last Pizza is Pizza Giovanni, located in Jalan Babarsari ,Gang Purisari number 4B, or you can enter from the alley in front of Babarsari Shops.
Even though, you have to pass through an alley, this restaurant is clean and it is really cozy. The situation nearby is not noisy too. In the cover of the menu, there is a sentence which says "All Pizza for Rp 25.000". The best seller one is Spicy Meet Lover (The toppings consist of sausage, beef, chicken, tomato, onion in spicy seasoning). The diameter of Spicy Meet Lover is about 30cm. The pizza is thin and crunchy. It consists of cheese, sausage, beef, and chicken too.
This pizza is crispy in crusts but tender and thin in the middle. Available for delivery order by ordering minimum 2 pizzas. If you live near Babarsari, the delivery is for free. But if you live rather far from Pizza Giovanni, you can add 5 to 10 thousand for delivery fee. What are you waiting for then??? Call 0274-6612435 and enjoy Pizza Giovanni!
The service here is relative fast too! For the beverages you can try some smoothies or Lemon Squash.
If you guys are fans of nasi goreng, I found another delicious fried rice beside Nasi Goreng Padmanaba. It's located at Jalan Gejayan next to Pempek Ny.Kamto. The type of the fried rice is almost the same with Nasi Goreng Padmanaba, but the taste is not too sweet. Nasi Goreng Gejayan has many choice of meat. You can choose beef, chicken, and lamb. And also, for spicy food lovers, you can ask for additional chili if you want.
ReplyDelete@YOGHURTKU
ReplyDeleteYou want a healthy food and of course don’t make you fat? Try this yoghurt! There are 2 places, the first is @Yoghurtku. This place sells all about salad and yoghurt. It is located in Moses Gatotkaca (it is in the same row as Tio Ciu Restaurant) or you can find it in Kranggan (near Tugu) too. The menu is low-calories yoghurt, fruit yoghurt, fruit salad, vegetables salad, tuna salad, etc. And all of this food is really cheap! The Low-calories yoghurt is only Rp 9.500, fruit or vegetables salad is Rp 8.000, and other yoghurts cost about Rp 8.000-9.000. The recommended menu is ‘Tuna Salad’, ‘Fruit Salad’, and ‘Blueberry Yogurt’. For the fruit salad, it contains many fruits such as watermelon, apple, strawberry, mango, etc. We can also choose various mayonnaise topping, like blueberry, strawberry, and also cheese! Yoghurtku serves more than enough you can eat for each potion!
@Zest Frozen Yogurt * Ice Cream * Coffee
This yoghurt is a Frozen Yogurt which is softer, more congested and un-melting like Soft Ice.
All of the frozen yoghurt in ZEST, can be served with many toppings such as peach, orange, cookie, Oreo biscuit, moci cake, etc. We can also choose the sauce, like caramel, chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, mocha, and it’s really yummy!
If you don’t like yoghurt, there is also other menu served here like, pancake, waffle, crepes, zuppa soup, French fries and nugget. The price ranges from Rp 9.000. It opened from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. It is located in Jl. Mangkubumi too. So, if you want snacking to not make you fat, just try Frozen Yoghurt at Zest!
@Rumah Salad
This Rumah Salad is located in Jl. Prof. Dr. Sardjito 11. All of the foods here are, of course, salad. There are fruit salad, vegetables salad, salmon salad, and tuna salad. In here also served yoghurt, juices, fruit cocktail, banana split, banana smoothies, etc. Other menus are doramini, pecel, and fried noodle. The recommended one is the salmon salad, it is only Rp. 9500. For vegetable/fruit salad, it is about Rp 7.500.
Various yoghurts with lettuce, corn, green peas, cucumber, shavings carrot, sausages or cheese are available. Yoghurt with mayonnaise is tasty too! For take away yoghurt, you can still enjoy it chilled and yummy.
@rindu : When I went to Nanamia last week,I pass yoghurtku store but i couldn't come there because I was in a rush.Maybe next time I will go to the yoghurtku to enjoy a glass of blueberry yoghurt.
ReplyDelete@Amel: sure! Maybe you can invite me too!
ReplyDeletePASTA GIO
A high-class place to dine under the form of pasta restaurant can be your best choice for students or college students to date with someone special or for families to hang out. It opens everyday from 5 pm until 10 pm. What's special here? Well, the chef is a high school student! His name is Gio, that’s why this restaurant is called Pasta Gio. Although the chef is still young, his skill in cooking cannot be looked down.
Pasta Gio is located in a house garage which is well organized into small restaurant completed with open kitchen and dining chairs and tables which are arranged in the garage and also in the yard.
The atmosphere is really harm and homy. You can enjoy many delicious western foods too. You can also see the people who are cooking attractively in front of the customers. Generally, the good service and tasty food of Pasta Gio is worth to try.
We can choose many pasta and chicken roaster which is the most recommended here. You can check the thumb-up sign beside the name of the food in the menu. The menus are Fettucinni, Spaghetti, Lasagna, Soup, and other side dishes can be ordered. The food that I really love is Roast Chicken Rosemary, Maccaroni Smoked Beef, Lagsana Verde, Backed Penne Tomato, Cream Soup. For the dessert there are American Cake Chocolate and Chocolate Mousse.
For the beverages you can try Italian Soda which served with 2 variants, blueberry or hazelnut.
Actually the place is a bit hard to find. If you are from Jl. Palagan just go to the north, when you find a T-junction turn right to the direction of Jimbaran restaurant. It’s near the Jimbaran restaurant. You will see a small path in you left side with a red lampion hanging near the path.
For those who like to taste delicious foods from around the world, you should come to VIA VIA CAFE AND RESTO in Prawirotaman (in the south of jogja, near alum-alun kidul).
ReplyDeleteVia via is a restaurant which serves international foods such as european's, mediteran's, and asian's. Other restaurants usually serve only steaks as its western foods while via via serves plenty types of french foods (like wood oven baked chicken, ratatouille, etc), pastas, and other european foods. For the Mediterranean food, they serve couscous (a Moroccan dish made from semolina, served with a meat or vegetable stew spooned over it) which I find is cool because it's very rare to find it here. As a restaurant which is targeted to foreign customers, Via via serves local foods as well and I think the local menu is the most ordered one (because mostly the visitors are foreigners). They change the local menu daily, when I went there they served Lodeh at the moment. Having dinner somewhere out is not complete without things you called desserts! Besides of their delicious main course, Via via has creme brûlée, fondant aux chocolat, ice creams, cheese cake, tiramisu, and other delicious desserts.
About the place, you can easily find Via via by the time you get into Prawirotaman street. It isn't also difficult to find the Prawirotaman street since it is a famous street in Jogja full of tourists hotels and restaurants. Unfortunately the street it pretty small and Via via doesn't have a parking lot. So if you ride a car, be careful to park yours because the street is very crowded with becaks and tourist's buses.
But still I recommend you to go there because they have a nice atmosphere to be enjoyed. The restaurant's layout is a bit like Nanamia, but they have the second floor which is more considerable as you can dine while enjoying the night air of Jogja.
For the price itself, it is a bit expensive; but I think that it worth the taste.
Have you ever heard or gone to Gotri ? . It is a small restaurant with yummy foods, affordable prices, good place to spend time with your fellas, and close to you who live around UGM. There are some foods with some cooking spices/sauces that you can choose by yourself. For example yesterday I ate a fried rice with a barbeque spice, I think it was great, delicious. Furthermore, the beverages are served with a huge glass, cool.
ReplyDeleteGotri is located in Kaliurang street in KM 4, in the alley next to Circle K. If you don't want to come there, just hang up the phone and call them to bring the foods to your house.
P.S.
Sometimes you have to queue up due to the full of buyers, and its quite hard to find a parking lot to you who drive a car.
Next, I have tried mayonnaise sauce, and I recommend you not to choose it, because it taste like a liquid milk.
All of places I see in this group are mostly about culinary. But, I have not heard about the most famous place in Jogjakarta written by anybody in this group, Borobudur temple.I found it was a very good place to hang out. It is unique and awesome cos I cant find any temple in Jakarta. Borobudur is a Buddhist temple and located 42 km west of Yogyakarta. It is one of the world's most famous temples, standing majestic and serene on a hillock overlooking lush green fields and distant hills. The shrine is the world's and most complete collection of Buddhist relief. ReplyDeleteSchool and college are different in many ways but similar in some ways. They are similar in such ways that you still have to go to class, do class work, home work, take test, and study hard. They are different in such ways that we can have cell phones in class, walk out of class, wear anything to class, and the thing that sets it off is living on campus. But the freedom in college life forces me to give more responsibility to myself, thousand miles away from my parents with a college's freedom. So, in conclusion I have to give attention to my college life, from the Good score side, My social life, And time for having fun and finally the harmony of all of that could be reached.
ReplyDeleteHello, I just went to Kopi Tiam Oey, it is located in jalan Wolter Monginsidi 19. This restaurant is quite different compared with other restaurant because the dish they make is little bit old but with todays look. So that's what makes it different. Actually, KTO also open in Solo but KTO Jogja has more menu than KTO Solo. I have a lot of recommendation about the dishes and also beverages in KTO.
ReplyDeleteFor dishes:
First, try Nasi Item, actually this is just rice but I don't know what the ingredients that they use to make the blackened rice. I thought the ingredients are same like what rawon does. Nasi Item is covered with leaf (I don't know whether is it a banana leaf or a pandan leaf, but I thought it's a banana leaf), they put a lot of chopped chili and onion inside of the rice, srundeng, sliced chicken and little omelette in the top of the rice.
Second, try Nasi Tim Ayam Godog (if I'm not wrong for the name) it's a tim rice with lot of sliced chicken in the top, and it served with a chicken stock (separated).
Fish and Chips, I don't like the potato, but the fish are delicious.
For beverages:
First, The must try is, Milo Dino. It's just a milo served cold but with three layers of happiness, after the milo itself (it's not counted), they put milo powder in the top of it, then whipped cream in the top of the powder and strawberry sauce in the top of the whipped cream. It's a must to try.
Second is Hot Chocolate, again, it's just a chocolate drinks but I don't know why the chocolate in KTO is so thick, and it's just like a guilty pleasure, because you will fell pleased after drink the chocolate but you will feel guilty because it will make your stomach full.
Just go to KTO and don't forget to buy the three layers of happiness.
After all these month of living alone, stay in Jogja, I finally felt that the best culinary is in your own boarding house. If you have a stove and refrigerator, you can regularly shop your own groceries and increase your cooking skill. At the beginning I did not really know how to cook. I can only boil water, fry and make noodles. But when forced to try, I can cook with spice of the kitchen. Well, it is fun to cook! You do not need to go out to deal with hunger. Especially, when you are tired and feel not able to go, but the hunger strikes. And, most importantly, you will save lots of money. Here I have some suggestion about where to buy cheap groceries. It is better for you to go to a big store, or a supermarket. In my observation, Mirota Campus offers the cheapest price. Followed by Giant. But Carrefour provides more complete goods. If you want to shop for long-term, Lotte Mart is the right choice. It is a wholesale, so you can buy stuffs in an agent price which is cheaper. But I don’t recommend you to buy fresh stuff like meat or vegetable there. Theirs is not that fresh, besides, you won’t get cheaper price on things like that. You can buy fruits and vegetables in fruit shop at Jakal or Gejayan T-junction.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that Yogyakarta has a lot of beautiful coffee shops that provide beverages with reasonable price.
ReplyDeleteToday i spent the afternoon at Sagan Huis Cafe. Located in front of CCF in Sagan.
This place is really beautiful at night. Since they has just opened, they offer 20% discount on the next visit. The coffee is good. I recommend you to order Green Tea Coffee.
Cheap and delicious food? You should try “Ayam Geprek Ms RUM” which is located in Gejayan Street, but I forgot the complete address. The main menu is chicken flour mashed with chilli peppers and the numbers of chilli used are depending to the taste of buyers. So if you want to use 10 chillis, just say to the sales person and he will mash the chicken with 10 chillis. When I went there I ate the chicken mashed with three chillis and I think it's very spicy already. So, be careful with your choice. There are also additional menu; tempe, tofu, eggs, and vegetables.
ReplyDeleteI've been to baron beach and i think the Indrayanti beach is the best for hanging out. I went there with my friends at new years, they got fireworks, music and stuff. But i think you won't have much fun if you're going to swim at Indrayanti. Because it was really crowded the first time i went there, and that was a normal day.
ReplyDeleteThe Drini beach and Kukup are more suitable to swim. The beaches are clean, and there are no trashes near the beach. Both of them have a really nice view. At Drini you can see the sunrise from the top of the small island in the middle of the beach. And at west of Kukup there's a lighthouse and a small tent where you can find by walking a little. There you can relax and make some campfire while enjoying the view of the beautiful beach.
However the access to the beach is kind of difficult. The road is very bumpy and narrow. You also have to go through a village where you must slow down if you don't want to hit some little kid crossing the street. And it's very dangerous to go at night because the road doesn't have any street lights. So you can only rely on your car or motorcycle light which is not really enough and dangerous because there are many sharp turns and cliffs. And it would be worse if it's raining.
It is a shame because the beaches are really beautiful, but tourists will have problems to get there. However it's really worth the trip.
Sky Bar (Rooftop All Season Hotel)
ReplyDeleteWell I found a new place to hang out or just to relax with your friends or maybe boy/girlfriend. When I passed through at Jl. Dagen (it’s in Malioboro) , I found new hotel there, the name is All Season Hotel, it is in the end of Jl. Dagen if you are from Malioboro street. On the 7th floor of this hotel, you will find a cafĂ© in a roof top, the atmosphere is really cozy, and it can show the view of Yogyakarta! Besides that you can play billiard here, there is a bar too. The unique thing is you can find the chairs which are really big. Each chair can consist of 3 people; and is really cute!
If you want to hear the jazz music, you can come here every Tuesday night. The atmosphere was so great that I spent my time here for a long time. But, one thing that I don’t like from this hotel is the service which takes long time. It is maybe because this is still a new hotel, so that the employees are not yet all professional.
For the menu, there are many cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. There are also other choices such as juices, milkshake, etc. For the food, there are Western and Indonesian food. For the western food there are chicken teriyaki, pasta, steak, salmon, etc. For the Indonesian foods there are tahu kupat, nasi pecel, rawon, ayam penyet. You can also have some soup, snacks, and dessert also. The price of the food starts from Rp. 20.000 and up.
Actually, I don’t really like the food served here because the food are served in small portions. The food are considered expensive as they include 21% of tax. I suggest you to come here just for hang out and enjoy the atmosphere of Jogjakarta from the roof top. It is even greater if you come here with your special friends such as boyfriend or girlfriend.
For you who want to come here, it is located at Jl. Dagen No.109.
Well, does anybody here have try Mix and Match? It’s located in Jalan Flamboyan, next to the famous Flamboyan stall. Mix and Match is a place which serve various types of foods and beverages, but the main dish is nasi goreng, beside that, mix and match serve noodle, potato, and vegetable such as broccoli. For nasi goreng, the price varies from 11,000 to 14,500 and for beverages it is vary from 3500 to I forget how much. And here are my favorite dishes in mix and match. For nasi goreng, try nasi goreng mix and match, it is nasi goreng which have lot of seafood and chopped chicken inside it. Second is nasi goreng tom yam seafood, usually tom yam is a kind of soup from Thailand but mix and match can make new variation. Nasi goreng tom yam seafood in mix and match is excellent, the seasoning is great and lot of fish meatball, shrimp inside it. But for beverages, mix and match doesn’t has special menu.
ReplyDeleteThe best grilled ribs I've ever tasted in Jogja are in Sapi Bali. The place is quiet cozy at night and the tables are unique, made of raw woods without finishing.
ReplyDeleteI don't really understand cooking and food ingredients but the spices and chili are dominant. They taste so delicious, try sometimes!
The location is on Jalan Damai (a transverse street between Jalan Kaliurang and Jalan Monjali). To go there, from Hyatt Hotel you should turn right to Jakal. There's a junction after PariPari. Turn right after passing jimbaran, and turn left.
